Shopify Marketplace Connect (the app formerly known as Codisto) is the default first stop for Shopify sellers going multichannel, it is first-party, free to install, and lives inside Shopify admin. Sellers search for an alternative when they hit one of its three walls: the four-marketplace ceiling (no Etsy), the 1 percent per-synced-order fee, or the hard requirement that Shopify is and remains your platform.

What Marketplace Connect gets right
It is genuinely free to start, sync is real-time by its own specification, marketplace account connections are unlimited, and being first-party means it will not fight Shopify admin. For a Shopify seller testing Amazon or eBay at low volume, it is a sane first tool, which is exactly why it is the incumbent this page compares against.
The three walls
The marketplace ceiling. Four marketplaces, and Etsy is not one of them (current app listing). For handmade, vintage, and craft-adjacent sellers, Etsy is often the second-most-important channel; needing a second app for it defeats the point of a single integration. Unifystock connects Etsy natively beside Amazon and eBay.
The fee meter. After 50 synced orders a month, every additional synced order costs 1 percent, capped at $99. The cap is genuinely customer-friendly, but the shape is still a usage tax: from roughly 200 orders a month upward you are paying variable fees for a fixed service, and at the cap you are at double Unifystock’s flat price. Flat $49 with unlimited orders is simpler math at every growth stage past hobby volume.
The platform lock. Marketplace Connect requires Shopify, permanently. Sellers on WooCommerce or OpenCart cannot use it at all, and Shopify sellers who later migrate lose their marketplace integration with the platform. Unifystock is store-neutral: WooCommerce, OpenCart, and Shopify all connect as first-class sources of truth, and switching store platforms does not orphan your marketplace setup.
What Unifystock adds beyond parity
Real-time sync is table stakes between these two tools; the differences are breadth and depth. Unifystock adds Etsy and store-platform neutrality on the breadth side; on the depth side, days-of-cover forecasting computed on combined cross-channel velocity, oversell-risk detection on thin SKUs, per-channel price rules and safety buffers, and a sync-health view where every push is verifiable.
Common questions
I am on Shopify and under 50 orders a month - should I switch?
Probably not yet, unless you need Etsy. Marketplace Connect free tier is hard to argue with at that volume. Bookmark the comparison for the month the fee meter starts running or the Etsy question becomes real.
Does Unifystock run inside Shopify admin?
No, it is its own dashboard, by design: it manages every channel including your store, which an in-admin app structurally cannot. Your Shopify store connects through the standard authorization and remains the source of truth.
Can I bring my existing Amazon and eBay listings?
Yes, SKU-based connection to live listings, no relisting, history intact. The Amazon-eBay sync guide shows the mechanics.
What about Walmart and Target Plus?
Marketplace Connect covers them today; Unifystock’s native launch set is Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Shopify, WooCommerce, and OpenCart, with a roadmap beyond. If Walmart is your main marketplace right now, that difference matters, weigh it honestly.
